Brockmire

Brockmire is a dark comedy TV series that originally aired on IFC from 2017 to 2020. The show stars Hank Azaria as Jim Brockmire, a once-famous Major League Baseball announcer who suffers a spectacular public meltdown on air after discovering his wife’s infidelity. The incident goes viral, derailing his career. The series picks up a decade later, with Brockmire attempting to rebuild his life and career by calling games for a struggling minor league team in a small town. The show filmed at several baseball stadiums, including Truist Park.

Cobra Kai

Cobra Kai is a martial arts dramedy series on Netflix that picks up decades after the original Karate Kid films. Set in the present day, the show reintroduces Johnny Lawrence (played by William Zabka), the former high school bully who lost to Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) in the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. Now a down-on-his-luck handyman, Johnny decides to reopen the infamous Cobra Kai dojo to give his life meaning again.

It was filmed at the former location of Hodge Army Navy, which was demolished after filming. The new location is nearby and sells the type of clothing the kids wear in the Upside Down.

The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead is a post-apocalyptic horror drama series that originally aired on AMC from 2010 to 2022, centered around Rick Grimes, a small-town sheriff’s deputy, waking up from a coma in a hospital—only to find the world has collapsed. A mysterious virus has caused the dead to reanimate as “walkers” and society has fallen into chaos. Dumplin’

Dumplin’ is a feel-good coming-of-age comedy-drama film released on Netflix in 2018, based on the novel by Julie Murphy. It stars Danielle Macdonald as Willowdean Dickson—nicknamed Dumplin’ by her former beauty queen mother, played by Jennifer Aniston. The movie filmed at locations like Marietta Middle and High Schools and the Cobb County Civic Center.

Goosebumps

The Goosebumps movie is a fun, spooky adventure-comedy inspired by the wildly popular children’s horror book series by R.L. Stine. In the film and its sequel, Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween, a small-town teenager discovers that his father is the reclusive author and his wild tales come to life. The movies used locations like the Marietta Ice Center and Daniell Middle School. The second film used Vinings for a trick-or-treating scene.

Pitch Perfect 3

In the third and final installment in the Pitch Perfect musical comedy series, the Barden Bellas reunite for a USO tour while Beca contemplates a solo career. The movie filmed around the Marietta Square, including at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, used to resemble Rota, Spain.
